Starting from next week, Instagram has unveiled a couple of new features dedicated to the monetization of its influencers to help creators make money through the platform. All previous ways of earning money happened directly between influencers and external companies, but not anymore. The features introduced will make a shift in how the platform works for these things, like TikTok, Twitch, and YouTube, which have made it easier for making money as a creator.
The new features include ads on IGTV, digital badges that users can buy via Instagram Live merchandise sales through Instagram Shopping, and some more. The ads on IGTV will start showing up next week, with Instagram splitting at least 55% of revenue to the creators. The “badges” serve as a means of promotion by users on their Live videos, costing from $0.99 to $1.99, and $4.99, with all the money going straight to the creator/business. Users who purchase a badge will show one, two, or three heart icons next to their usernames, depending on how much they paid, along with boosting their comments up in the live feed.
