Streaming platform Disney+ has completely canceled its 7 days free trial period for new subscribers, with other ideas for testing different promotional offers in mind.
The relatively young streaming service, that gathered more than 50 million subscribers in just the first five months since its launch, thanks to big titles such as The Mandalorian as well as other Marvel Cinematic Universe titles, as well as its large inventory of classic Disney films, removed the offer from its marketing material weeks earlier, a spokeswoman told CNET: “The service was set at an attractive price-to-value proposition that we believe delivers a compelling entertainment offering on its own.”
The current subscription prices for Disney+ go for $7 a month or $70 a year. However, Disney+’s main competitors, Netflix and Amazon Prime, both still offer their new users a free trial for 30 days, making it unclear whether or not this will affect Disney+’s popularity.
