Streaming platform Disney+ has announced a new visual album, written, directed, and executive produced by Beyoncé, titled Black Is King, revolving around the album the singer released in conjunction with the film, The Lion King: The Gift.
The visuals for the album will arrive on July 31, a little over one year after the premiere of Disney’s Lion King remake, in which Beyoncé voiced a prominent character, Nala, and will include contributions by Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Tierra Whack, and Donald Glover, who also starred in 2019’s Lion King reboot, as the voice of Simba.
As per a press release, the album “reimagines the lessons of The Lion King for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns.” A teaser trailer for Black Is King is currently available to watch on Beyoncé’s website.
