To promote their upcoming studio album releasing November, The Smashing Pumpkins have produced a five-part animated series called In Ashes. The show depicts a sci-fi dystopian future that will be scored alongside the forthcoming album, Cyr.
“The original story is something I’ve written and although it’s (mostly) lighthearted, ‘IN ASHES’ does address many things we face each day. That is if we live in dystopia, or paradise, or both. The choice, some say, is yours; and could even be a quantum issue,” says the band’s frontman and the creator of the series, Bill Corgan. “One soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped-up time. To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith,” he described the album’s overall feel as “a dystopic folly.”
The first two episodes are already out, available to watch down below. Expect Cyr to drop on November 27.
