HBO has just released the official teaser for the first Euphoria special. The episode titled “Part 1: Rue” is the first of the two-part holiday special which airs on December 6. They should make it easier to wait for the second season.
The teaser picks up right where the first season left off. Played out to Otis Redding’s “Cigarettes and Coffee,” Rue Bennett (portrayed by Zendaya) sits alone in a diner and reflects on the events that just transpired. The end of the first season saw her relapse and do drugs after her girlfriend, Jules (portrayed Hunter Schafer), left her on a train platform following their high school dance.
Ali (portrayed by Colman Domingo), a man she met during her Narcotics Anonymous meetings, breaks her introspection by asking her why she called him.
Euphoria made Zendaya the youngest actress to ever win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in September 2020.
As mentioned above, production for season two is reportedly set to resume in 2021, so stay tuned for more info on “Part 2.” The first Euphoria holiday special airs on December 6 on HBO. Watch the teaser below.
