Appearing at the 2021 BRIT Awards, The Weeknd and Oneohtrix Point Never delivered quite a special live performance of the After Hours cut, “Save Your Tears.”
The performance begins with a shot of the two musicians inside a rain shelter as the thunder roars and lightning strikes in the background. Opting to leave his iconic red suit behind, The Weeknd can be seen dressed in a full Valentino getup with a black raincoat and hat, and he puts this protective gear to use during the final chorus as he steps outside and sings under the storm.
Maybe what’s more important is that after the performance The Weeknd went home with the International Male Solo Artist award virtually presented by none other than Michelle Obama, who said “So let’s just say, in a tough year, he’s provided a light that’s pretty blinding and given us all a reason to dance.” Still under the rain, Abel expresses how he wishes he was physically there to accept the award his gratitude to his fans in the U.K. and his support to the people of Ethiopia, urging viewers to help in any way they can.
