Respect, an upcoming MGM Pictures-produced biographical film about the queen of soul Aretha Franklin, has received an official trailer, seeing Jennifer Hudson as the main character.
Franklin’s remarkable rise to stardom is the focus of the Liesl Tommy-directed biopic, the first Black woman nominated for a Tony award back in 2016. Alongside Hudson as Franklin, other notable names from the long list of stars include Forest Whitaker, playing C.L. Franklin; Audra McDonald, Barbara Franklin; Marlon Wayans, Ted White; and Mary J. Blige, Dinah Washington.
Respect was originally set to release earlier this year in January 2021 but was delayed to August 13, 2021. Take a look at the official trailer below.
