Scrapworld is a brand and a fashion event created in 2018 that has managed to connect with consumers ranging widely in age thanks to its cultural references: the 90s, cartoons, skateboarding, punk, hip-hop, rock, cinema, comics, Japanese culture… Thanks to all this imagination, the label has managed to attract both young people and those of preceding generations, in whom their designs evoke feelings of nostalgia.

Their collaboration with Abdul Vas came about thanks to a friendship, shared references, and the need to express ourselves through new formats.

Next year Scrapworld will present a limited-edition capsule featuring art toys, clothing, accessories and more surprises! It will be available in the first half of 2023.

For Abdul Vas, painting is a way of making music. In his imagined world, Vas sees images that are transformed into guitar riffs during the creative process. Each stroke is like a musical note that will be engraved on the canvas, giving shape to cybernetic, metamorphic, bold and stunning rock creatures. In his paintings Vas captures all the energy of AC/DC’s music, and is the only visual artist who brings the Australian band’s energy to the contemporary art circuit. Vas has created his own vision of what art and rock´n´roll are, mixing the two in a very original way, unlike anything we are used to seeing within the wide-ranging world of contemporary art.

“My aim is to paint Brian Johnson’s voice on the canvas, I want to capture that sound. I’m obsessed with his vocal power.” Abdul Vas

Abdul Vas lives and works between Madrid and Ho Chi Minh City. His works have been exhibited in the United States, Latin America, Asia, and Europe, and are included in various international collections.
