China’s new bullet train, which runs all by itself, capable of reaching 217 MPH (350 KMH), has been launched ahead of the 2022 Winter Olympics. It is officially the world’s fastest autonomous train ever made, as it made traveling a 108-mile distance between Beijing and Zhangjiakou, the main skiing event area, a matter of 45 minutes.
The trains will start and stop at various stations automatically according to a timetable, further changing speeds depending on limits in-between stops. The 4-year project has been realized into a 10-station system of high-speed railway, including a stop at Badaling Changcheng for close access to the Great Wall of China.
On-board features include cabins that have storage areas for winter sports equipment, seats equipped with 5G touchscreen control panels, real-time safety sensors, and more. Facial-recognition technology and robots will be used in stations to assist passengers with boarding, directions, checking-in, and luggage, as well as in case of emergency monitoring attendants.
