Reportedly going live this September alongside international fashion weeks, Amazon is preparing to launch its own luxury fashion platform. The business model will, according to WWD, launch with a concession agreement granted to ready-to-wear labels and accessories designers/brands.
Such grant of rights will allow the participating labels, which are believed to be a dozen to take part once the platform launches, to have the maximum autonomy, including how it looks, which pieces are marked down, and how much they would like to sell. This independence will be combined with Amazon’s distribution and storage infrastructure, too.
Amazon’s latest move into the world of luxury fashion was planned for Spring this year but postponed to September due to global COVID-19 lockdown measures.
