An early take on Cash’s classic, originally written by Dylan, has been released – it’s a demo in combination with the 15th installment of Dylan’s Bootleg Series, which is supposed to focus on both artists’ fertile Nashville recording sessions from 1969, but will include a variety of new material from 1967 to 1969.

Dylan had originally written “Wanted Man” for Cash, which became an immediate success for the country star. Travelin’ Thru, 1967 – 1969: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15 will also feature an unreleased demo take of Dylan’s “Mystery Train,” which takes on Junior Park’s 1953 Memphis blues track of the same name, “Girl From the North Country,” and much more. It is set to arrive on November 1 via Columbia Records.
