Franklin Sirmans, director of the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), will host a virtual art talk with world-renowned photographer, David LaChapelle. The talk will center on a number of points including where LaChapelle finds inspiration, especially during these challenging times.
The Connecticut-born photographer, gained an international following thanks to his elaborate and polished photographs of surrealist landscapes, biblical motifs, and half-naked celebrities, as well as having worked as a contributing photographer for Interview Magazine after Warhol discovered him at the infamous nightclub, Studio 54.
The PAMM states: “Through his mastery of color, unique composition, and imaginative narratives, LaChapelle began to expand the genre of photography. His staged tableau, portrait, and still life work challenged devices of traditional photography, and his work quickly gained international interest.”
The talk will be held on PAMM’s Facebook Live and YouTube Live accounts on July 8. A public conversation will follow. Visit PAMM’s official website to learn more.
