Olof Grind, better known by his stage name Luminous Kid, has released his first single off his upcoming album “At the End of the Dream,” titled “The Gutter of Our Ecstasy” (June 12, 2020). His background in photography has influenced his sound in the way he composes a soundscape out of vivid stories and contrasts, that this track, filled with nostalgia and liberation, perfectly puts together in a soft poetic indie-pop ambiance.
The song was written while Luminous Kid was traveling through South America, inspired by his new surroundings and what it was like for him to be queer in a catholic community. It speaks of a love story unfolding for three weeks in Paris and in the letters that were written thereafter. Luminous Kid captured the gutter of the two lover’s ecstasy with a Super 8 camera in a picturesque Call Me by Your Name-like setting, using a dreamy style of writing inspired by “some magical realist authors” he was introduced to while he was in Columbia.
“I want my music, lyrics, and visual material to expand and complete one another. I’m planning on releasing a photo book alongside the Vinyl version of the album to make both media more tangible. I want to create a complete body of queer art packaged in its own project,” said Olof in a press release.
