In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the LVMH 2020 Prize edition has been canceled, which would have otherwise taken place on June 5 at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.
The eight finalists would have gathered to present their collections to a group of handpicked industry judges, including Virgil Abloh, Rihanna, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, etc, and compete for the winning cash prize of €300,000, which has, due to the cancelation of the event, been distributed evenly among the finalists: Priya Ahluwalia, Casablanca designer Charaf Tajer, Nicholas Daley, Peter Do, Sindiso Khumalo, Tomo Koizumi, Supriya Lele and Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena of Chopova Lowena.
Delphine Arnault in a statement: “Since its launch, the LVMH Prize has promoted and nurtured young talent. Each year, it places the spotlight on young designers from all over the world and supports the development of their companies. In this challenging context, this fund in aid of young fashion designers highlights the main mission of the LVMH Prize by supporting our former winners.”
