Netflix has officially acquired a documentary about Kanye West for more than $30 million, according to reports.
The multi-part project was created by duo Coodie and Chike, Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah, who co-directed Kanye’s “Through the Wire” and “Jesus Walks” music videos. It will reportedly feature unseen archival footage and material compiled over the last 21 years. The documentary should also cover Simmons’ longstanding relationship with ‘Ye, the artist’s early career, the passing of his mother, venture into fashion and controversial 2020 presidential run.
The Kanye West documentary produced by the Creative Control and TIME Studios doesn’t have an official title yet, but should release on Netflix later this year.
