Amanda Charchian has just released her first monograph, titled Pheromone Hotbox. The project started in 2012, in Costa Rica, where she began photographing the two women she was traveling with and found herself, “fascinated with capturing the nude female form in surreal landscapes.” Pheromone Hotbox has been captured all around the world, from Iceland to Costa Rica to Corsica and beyond.
“I have been preoccupied by the idea of pheromones and the emissions of our bodies as extrasensory devices of communication,” Charchian told the Huffington Post. “Clothes distract from that. I am interested in photographing the part of a person that cannot be expressed solely with speech or a look from the eye.”
