The charitable initiative co-organized by the nonprofit organization Rainforest Foundation and UNITY is encouraging its supporters to purchase original works of art as a means of raising funds to protect the Amazon rainforest and its surrounding indigenous communities. Nearly fifty international artists joined together for the initiative, including Wolfgang Tillmans, Tacita Dean, and Rineke Dijkstra are among the leading participants.
The Rainforest Foundation expressed in a statement: “We strengthen indigenous land security and train indigenous communities to use technology to protect their forests. By investing directly in indigenous communities, we connect people who are deeply motivated to conserve their ancestral lands with the tools, training, and resources necessary.”
The purchase of artwork such as posters and prints will directly benefit the Rainforest Foundation with 100% of the proceeds, ensuring their work on the ground to secure land rights for indigenous people, alongside spearheading programs to protect the natural regions of Central and South America, does not cease.
Check out some of the artworks below, or visit UNITY’s official website to purchase the prints or posters priced at $50 and $125 respectively and support the Rainforest Foundation.
