After performing a range of The xx songs and covers on her Instagram Live, including Dua Lipa’s Electricity (which she co-produced), Romy Madley from The xx debuted her new track titled “Weightless” and announced a release of the solo album.
She said about the project: “For the past couple years I’ve been writing a lot of songs for other people, writing a lot of songs for myself. I ended up with all these songs so I’m going to release a solo album under my name. It’s just going to be under Romy. I’m hopefully going to be releasing it soon. I have loads of songs and I feel excited to try something new,” as per NME.
What’s expected of the solo album is possibly a more upbeat vibe, unlike the usual The xx feel, taking influence from “club classics – Ibiza house, trance music, stuff that you can really dance to but also sing along to.”
