Saint Laurent Rive Droite takes a different approach under Anthony Vaccarello’s creative direction for its latest collection of luxury furniture and interior design. The fashion house partnered with the Italian design and architecture group Memphis for a capsule collection and accompanying exhibition, all while celebrating Memphis’ 40th anniversary.
The Memphis Group was founded in 1981 by Ettore Sottsass and has since become one of the most dominant names in the world of art and design. It represents a cultural movement and is known for reinterpreting shapes, scales, materials and colors to create daring and unforgettable pieces of interior design and architecture, and now this notion inspires a collaboration between both Saint Laurent Rive Droite and Memphis.
At Saint Laurent Rive Droite stores in Paris and Los Angeles, some of the Memphis’ greatest hits will be exhibited, such as the Masanori Umeda-designed RING bed, Ettore Sottsass’ CARLTON room divider, and the RIVIERA chairs designed by Michele De Lucchi.
To round off the collaboration, Vaccarello designes a capsule collection which takes the inimitable characteristics of Memphis’ works and applies this to two multicolored checkerboard hoodies, two dresses, one shirt and two pairs of sneakers.
