Pantone has unveiled a new tool for quicker shade matching: the Pantone Color Match Card. It is a portable and more affordable option for color searching by using a card similar in size to a standard credit card.
The company—best known for its Pantone Matching System (PMS), a proprietary color space used in a variety of industries notably graphic design, fashion design, product design, printing, and manufacturing—has its own app, Pantone Connect, that has to be downloaded on a smartphone with the “Measure” feature open. The color matching is then being done by placing the Pantone Color Match Card on top of a solid color. The app takes a few moments to select the closest matching shade of the solid color and will provide the ideal color and several alternative hues.
