Author, curator, and producer Stephen Riekeles’ fascination about architecture conceived and realized in anime—from AKIRA, Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor, to Neon Genesis Evangelion and Tekkonkinkreet—gets closely examined in his upcoming book Anime Architecture – The definitive visual guide to the cityscapes and buildings of the most celebrated and influential anime movies.

Some of anime’s most awe-inspiring building structures are presented through original background paintings, storyboards, drafts, sources of inspiration, and film excerpts, and in direct collaboration with the original Japanese production studios, the book takes fans on the journey from early conception stages all the way to the final scenes as they are seen in anime.

Stephen Riekeles’ Anime Architecture is set to release in Fall 2020, along with a now-sold out collector’s edition on Volume.
