Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the release date for The Matrix 4 has been officially postponed by a full year, April 1, 2022.
The fourth installment of the iconic franchise was initially set to premiere on the same day as John Wick 4 (May 21, 2021) but as the film industry and the world struggle to keep up during the pandemic, we won’t see Keanu Reeves as Neo for another whole year.
Keanu Reeves shared the reason for his return as Neo in a recent interview: “Lana Wachowski wrote a beautiful script and a wonderful story that resonated with me. That’s the only reason to do it. To work with her again is just amazing. It’s been really special, and the story has, I think, some meaningful things to say, and that we can take some nourishment from.”
