TikTok has teamed up with The Lennon Estate and Universal Music Group to launch an account in memory of John Lennon, who would have turned 80 years old this 2020.
The platform is making 11 of Lennon’s solo works available to users for their video creation, specifically, “Instant Karma! (We All Shine On),” “Imagine,” “Mind Games,” “Beautiful Boy,” “Woman,” “Happy Xmas (War Is Over),” “Give Peace a Chance,” “Stand By Me,” “Nobody Told Me,” “Remember” and “Gimme Some Truth.” TikTok also launched the global hashtag challenge #GimmeSomeTruth to celebrate the arrival of the Beatles frontman on the app, recognizing the 1971 protest song produced with Phil Spector and created with George Harrison.
“We’re super excited to launch my dad’s official TikTok account and cannot wait to see what his fans all over the world create using his music and his message of peace and love,” Sean Ono Lennon, John’s son, said in a statement.
