As part of their archival film series announced earlier this month, Radiohead have shared their latest find from the extensive collection of archive live footage, with the help of longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich (AKA the group’s “sixth member”).
The performance is taken from the pilot episode of From the Basement, and consists of a rare solo piano set, performed by Thom Yorke in 2005, featuring songs from their 2007 album In Rainbows (“Videotape”, “Down Is the New Up”, and “Last Flowers”) as well as “Analyse”, a song from Yorke’s debut solo album, The Eraser.
“We rummaged in the Radiohead Public Library and found a few more concerts from a life that we all yearn to return to,” said the band, on restarting the series that originally began in April 2020. “Thanks to science and vaccines, we are a step closer to that.”
All of the archive footage is available to watch on Radiohead’s official YouTube channel, where the band will continue their archival concert series. In the meantime, watch Thom Yorke’s From the Basement set below.
