One of the most influential and important artists of the 20th and 21st century, Yayoi Kusama, is on display in Ohio—the exhibition is hosted by the Toledo Museum of Art Ohio, made possible through a loan from the Whitney Museum, already open and lasting through April 26, 2020.
Fireflies on the Water showcases Kusama’s ongoing investigation into the relationship between the individual, the space that they occupy and the concept of infinity. Her recognizable site-specific works transport viewers into a “space that seems endlessly expansive,” and for the first time, Toledo Museum installed Kusama’s Mirror Infinity Room, an immersive installation that uses lights and mirrors to create a limitless space.
