Imagine streaming your favorite music on Spotify, but using a 17-year-old iPod. YouTuber Guy Dupont made that happen.
Unlike conventional jailbreaking and hacking for Apple devices, Dupont opted to replace the iPod’s internal hardware altogether, swapping out the antiquated technology with a tiny programmable computer called a Raspberry Pi Zero W. With this replacement, he was able to give the device both wireless LAN and Bluetooth connectivity, and even managed to get it streaming from Spotify’s massive music and podcast library.
Additionally, Dupont was also able to add in a few new upgrades, including a color LCD display, a rechargeable 1,000 mAh battery pack, and even a small motor to enable haptic feedback.
